Air Fryer Cod

Air Fryer Cod

Here’s my air fryer cod recipe that is flavorful and flaky. I made this recipe to be easy, healthier, and tender, making it a perfect weeknight dinner.

My Favorite Recipe for Cod in the Air Fryer

I first made this air fryer cod during Lent when I wanted a healthier option than a battered fish fry. I had some cod in the fridge, and since I’ve had success with air frying other fish, I thought that cod would taste great, too, and it did!

I designed my recipe to be easy, so I could toss the fish with seasonings and air fry it — no breading needed! With our weeks being so busy, I just need one of those easy recipes by Friday.

Ingredients For air Fryer Cod Fish

  • Cod fillets – I’ve used cod loins as well, just use the time listed for those instead
  • Paprika
  • Salt and pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Olive oil
  • Lemon juice – fresh or bottled works great

How to Cook Cod in the Air Fryer

STEP ONE: Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F then pat each side of the cod fillets with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

STEP TWO: Combine the olive oil and lemon juice in a small bowl. Brush each side of the fillets with the olive oil mixture. Use the remaining oil to brush the inside of the air fryer basket or tray. I find this helps prevent sticking.

STEP THREE: In a small dish combine all of the seasonings. Rub the seasonings on each side of the fillets.

STEP FOUR: Place the cod in the air fryer basket and air fry for 8 minutes or until a meat thermometer reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees in the thickest part of the fillet.

  • Total Time: 13 minutes
  • Cuisine: American

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound cod fillets
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice bottled or fresh
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350 °F and pat each side of the cod fillets with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Combine the olive oil and the lemon juice in a small bowl. Brush each side of the cod fillets with the olive oil. Brush the inside of the air fryer basket with the remaining oil to help with sticking (optional).
  3. In a small dish, mix the paprika, salt, garlic powder, and pepper and rub the seasonings on each side of the fish.
  4. Place the cod in the air fryer basket or tray and cook for 8 minutes, until a meat thermometer reaches 145 °F and the fish easily flakes.

Notes

  • Cook frozen cod at 350 degrees for 4 minutes, add the oil and seasonings, then air fry again at 370 degrees for about 10 minutes.
  • Reheat leftovers in a preheated air fryer at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes.
