Air Fryer BBQ Chicken

Air Fryer BBQ Chicken Breast Recipe:

Smothered in your favorite BBQ sauce, these finger licking Air Fryer BBQ Chicken Breasts will be a smash hit with the whole family! Easy to make and delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Chicken:
    • Start by patting the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This helps the chicken cook more evenly and results in a crispier skin.
    • In a bowl, combine olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
    • Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken breasts, making sure they are evenly coated.
  2. Marinate:
    • Place the seasoned chicken breasts in a zip-top plastic bag or a shallow dish.
    • Pour half of the BBQ sauce over the chicken, making sure they are coated evenly.
    • Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap, and let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or ideally, up to 4 hours.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Air Frying:
    • Once the air fryer is preheated, lightly grease the air fryer basket with a bit of oil or cooking spray.
    • Place the marinated chicken breasts in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving some space between them.
    • Air fry the chicken breasts at 370°F (188°C) for about 18-22 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Cooking time may vary based on the thickness of the chicken breasts and the specific air fryer model you’re using.
  5. Brush with BBQ Sauce:
    • During the last 5 minutes of cooking, brush the remaining BBQ sauce over the chicken breasts for a flavorful glaze.
    • Continue cooking until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is cooked through with no pink in the center.
  6. Serve:
    • Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken breasts from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.

Notes:

  • Marinating the chicken helps infuse it with flavor and moisture. You can marinate for a shorter time if needed, but longer marination times yield better results.
  • Make sure to preheat the air fryer before cooking. Preheating ensures even cooking and a crispy exterior.
  • If you have a meat thermometer, it’s a great tool to ensure your chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • You can adjust the cooking time depending on the size and thickness of your chicken breasts. Thicker breasts may require a slightly longer cooking time.
  • Feel free to customize the seasoning and BBQ sauce according to your taste preferences.
