Air Fryer Chicken and Broccoli

Natalie September 6, 2023

Air Fryer Chicken and Broccoli Recipe:

Ingredients:

For the chicken:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the broccoli:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken pieces with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat the chicken evenly with the seasoning.
  3. Place the seasoned chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they are not overcrowded. You may need to cook in batches if your air fryer is small.
  4. Cook the chicken at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the chicken halfway through to ensure even cooking. The chicken should be golden brown and have an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) when done.
  5. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the broccoli. In a separate mixing bowl, toss the broccoli florets with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  6. After the chicken is done, remove it from the air fryer and cover it with foil to keep it warm.
  7. Place the seasoned broccoli florets in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  8. Cook the broccoli at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket once or twice during cooking, until the broccoli is tender and slightly crispy on the edges.
  9. Serve the air-fried chicken and broccoli together as a healthy and delicious meal.

Notes:

  1. Adjust the seasoning to your taste. You can add more or less garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to suit your preferences.
  2. Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket when cooking the chicken and broccoli. Overcrowding can lead to uneven cooking, and the food may not crisp up properly.
  3. You can customize this recipe by adding other vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, or snap peas to the broccoli for added variety.
  4. Serve the dish with your favorite dipping sauce, such as barbecue sauce, teriyaki sauce, or ranch dressing, for extra flavor.
  5. Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the size and model of your air fryer, so keep an eye on the food as it cooks to ensure it doesn’t overcook or burn.
    1. Marinating the Chicken: For even more flavor, consider marinating the chicken in your favorite marinade for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This can add depth and complexity to the dish. Just be sure to pat the chicken dry before air frying to avoid excess moisture.
    2. Breading Options: If you like a crispy coating on your chicken, you can dip the seasoned chicken pieces in beaten egg and then coat them in breadcrumbs or panko crumbs before air frying. This will give your chicken a crispy texture.
    3. Sprinkle with Parmesan: After air frying the broccoli, you can sprinkle it with grated Parmesan cheese while it’s still hot. The cheese will melt and create a delicious crust on the broccoli.
    4. Sauce Variations: If you prefer a saucier dish, you can make a simple stir-fry sauce by combining ingredients like soy sauce, honey, ginger, and garlic. Toss the cooked chicken and broccoli in the sauce before serving.
    5. Temperature and Time Adjustments: Air fryers can vary in terms of cooking temperature and times, so it’s essential to keep an eye on your food. If your air fryer tends to cook hot, you may need to reduce the temperature or cooking time slightly.
    6. Serve with Rice or Noodles: To turn this into a complete meal, serve the chicken and broccoli over steamed rice or cooked noodles. Drizzle some of the sauce over the top for added flavor.
    7. Experiment with Seasonings: Don’t be afraid to experiment with different seasonings and spices to suit your taste. You can try adding chili powder for some heat or lemon zest for a citrusy twist.
    8. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheating the air fryer for a few minutes before cooking can help achieve a crispier result.
    9. Keep Food Warm: If you’re cooking multiple batches, you can keep the cooked chicken and broccoli warm in a preheated oven at a low temperature (around 200°F or 93°C) while you finish the remaining batches.
    10. Cleaning Tip: To make cleanup easier, consider using parchment paper or an air fryer liner at the bottom of the basket to catch any drips and prevent sticking.

Remember that air frying is a versatile cooking method, so feel free to get creative and adapt this recipe to your preferences. Enjoy your homemade air fryer chicken and broccoli!
