Air Fryer Baby Potatoes

Air Fryer Baby Potatoes

Natalie September 26, 2023

Air fryer baby potatoes make for a delicious and easy side dish. They’re crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and you can season them in various ways to suit your taste. Here’s a simple recipe for air fryer baby potatoes along with some notes:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound baby potatoes (red or yellow)
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, rosemary, thyme, or any other herbs and spices you like

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Preheating ensures even cooking.
  2. Wash and Dry: Rinse the baby potatoes under cold water and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  3. Season: In a bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings you prefer. You can get creative with your seasonings. Garlic powder and rosemary are a classic combination, but feel free to experiment.
  4. Air Fry: Place the seasoned baby potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Don’t overcrowd the basket; if necessary, cook them in batches. Cooking them in a single layer ensures they get crispy. If they are too crowded, they will steam instead of crisp up.
  5. Cook: Air fry the baby potatoes at 375°F (190°C) for about 15-20 minutes, shaking or flipping them halfway through the cooking time. The exact time may vary depending on the size of your potatoes and the air fryer model you’re using. They should be golden brown and fork-tender when done.
  6. Serve: Once they’re cooked to your desired level of crispiness and tenderness, remove the baby potatoes from the air fryer. Serve them hot, optionally garnished with fresh herbs like parsley.

Notes:

  1. Size Matters: Ensure that the baby potatoes are roughly the same size for even cooking. If some are significantly larger than others, you may need to cut them in half so that they cook uniformly.
  2. Oil: Be mindful of the amount of oil you use. You want enough to coat the potatoes lightly, but you don’t want them to be overly greasy.
  3. Seasoning: Feel free to experiment with different seasonings and herbs to customize the flavor to your liking. Some people enjoy adding a sprinkle of parmesan cheese for extra flavor.
  4. Preheating: Preheating the air fryer is essential for consistent and efficient cooking. It helps achieve that crispy exterior.
  5. Shaking or Flipping: Remember to shake the air fryer basket or flip the potatoes halfway through cooking to ensure even browning.
  6. Batch Cooking: If you have a lot of potatoes to cook, it’s better to do it in batches rather than overcrowding the air fryer. Overcrowding can lead to uneven cooking.

Air fryer baby potatoes are versatile and can complement a variety of main dishes. Enjoy experimenting with different seasonings and serving them as a side for your favorite meals!
