Try these easy Air Fryer Scones for a delicious morning or afternoon tea treat. These lemonade scones are made with just 4 ingredients and are so fluffy and moist. Serve with cream and jam.

Air Fryer Scones are an easy and delicious treat to serve for morning or afternoon tea. I love to make lemonade scones which only need 4 basic ingredients and come together so quickly.

I find most scone recipes make at least 10, but that’s not very practical when you’re making them in the air fryer. To ensure you can cook all your scones at once in the air fryer, I’ve turned the classic lemonade scone recipe into a small batch. This recipe will give you 5 scones.

I also find the smaller batch helps with portion control, because I truly can’t be trusted around these scones! They’re irresistible.

INGREDIENTS

Here’s what you’ll need to make air fryer lemonade scones (measurements listed in the full recipe at the bottom of the page)…

Self Raising Flour
Thickened Cream / Heavy Cream
Lemonade – In Australia Schweppes or Kirks is fine. Please note if in America this refers to lemon flavoured soda pop drinks like sprite, not homemade lemonade.
Caster Sugar – Caster sugar is slightly finer than granulated sugar but either can be used in this recipe.

INSTRUCTIONS

Sift flour into a large mixing bowl, then add sugar, cream and lemonade. Use a butter knife to mix together gently until a soft sticky dough forms.

Pour the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly to bring together, then shape into an approximately 3cm / 1 inch thick disc. Using a 6cm / 2.5inch scone cutter, cut dough into rounds. Press the cutter straight up and down (don’t twist) and flour the cutter in between each round.

Place the rounds into the air fryer basket or tray with a small gap in between each one.

Brush the top of the scones lightly with milk, then cook on 180C / 350F for 15-20 minutes, or until golden on top. Move to a wire rack to cool and cover with a clean tea towel to prevent the tops from getting crusty.

Serve with jam and cream.

TOP TIPS

  • I use Schweppes or Kirks lemonade for the recipe. If you are outside of Australia, lemonade is referring to soda pop drinks like Sprite, NOT homemade lemonade made with freshly squeezed lemons.
  • Be careful not to overwork the mixture. You want to gently mix the dough together with a flat butter knife, then gently knead it and shape it into a disc.
  • Don’t twist the scone cutter when you’re cutting the rounds as this can cause them to lose their shape whilst baking. Also be sure to flour the cutter in between each round so it doesn’t stick.
  • You want your scone rounds to be thick (approx. 3cm / 1 inch thick).
  • Check in on your scones around 10 mins – you don’t want to overcook them and every air fryer is different.
  • Scones are best fresh and warm but will store in an airtight container for a few days. Just give them a zap in the microwave for 20-30 seconds before serving.
