Air Fryer Baked Potato (Microwave first)

Air Fryer Baked Potato (Microwave first)

Natalie June 2, 2023

Sure! Here’s a recipe for making an air fryer baked potato, with a little help from the microwave:

Ingredients:

  • 1 large russet potato
  • Olive oil or cooking spray
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Toppings of your choice (e.g., butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, chives)

Instructions:

  1. Start by washing the potato thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt. Pat it dry with a clean towel.
  2. Using a fork, pierce the potato several times all around. This will help steam escape during the cooking process.
  3. Place the potato in a microwave-safe dish and microwave it on high for about 5 minutes. This partially cooks the potato and speeds up the air frying process.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for a few minutes.
  5. While the air fryer is preheating, remove the potato from the microwave and let it cool slightly.
  6. Once the potato has cooled down, rub it with olive oil or spray it with cooking spray. This will help the skin crisp up in the air fryer.
  7. Season the potato with salt and pepper according to your taste preferences.
  8. Place the potato in the preheated air fryer basket. Make sure there is enough space for the hot air to circulate around it.
  9. Air fry the potato at 400°F (200°C) for approximately 20-25 minutes. Check the potato after about 15 minutes and flip it over to ensure even cooking.
  10. After the cooking time is up, check if the potato is tender by inserting a fork into the center. If it’s still firm, continue cooking for a few more minutes.
  11. Once the potato is cooked through and the skin is crispy, remove it from the air fryer. Be careful as it will be hot.
  12. Allow the potato to cool for a few minutes, then make a lengthwise cut across the top, being cautious not to cut all the way through.
  13. Gently squeeze the sides of the potato to open it up. You can fluff the flesh with a fork if desired.
  14. Add your favorite toppings, such as butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, or chives.
  15. Serve the air fryer baked potato while it’s still warm and enjoy!

Remember, cooking times may vary depending on the size and wattage of your microwave and air fryer, so keep an eye on the potato as it cooks to ensure it doesn’t overcook or undercook.
