Ingredients:

  • 4 medium russet potatoes
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
  • Optional toppings: butter, sour cream, chives, shredded cheese, bacon bits

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the potatoes:
    Scrub the potatoes well and pat them dry with a kitchen towel. Prick each potato several times with a fork to allow steam to escape while cooking.
  2. Season:
    Rub each potato with olive oil, ensuring they are evenly coated. Sprinkle with kosher salt for a crispy, flavorful skin.
  3. Preheat the air fryer:
    Set your air fryer to 200°C (400°F) and let it preheat for about 5 minutes.
  4. Air fry the potatoes:
    Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they have some space between them for even cooking.
    Cook at 200°C (400°F) for 35-45 minutes, depending on the size of the potatoes. Flip them halfway through the cooking time for even crisping.
  5. Check for doneness:
    The potatoes are ready when the skins are crispy, and a fork or knife easily pierces through the center.
  6. Serve:
    Carefully remove the potatoes from the air fryer, let them cool slightly, then slice open and add your favorite toppings.

  • Potato choice: Russet potatoes are ideal for baking due to their high starch content, which results in a fluffy interior.
  • Crispy skin: Ensure the potatoes are dry before oiling for the crispiest results.
  • Timing adjustment: Adjust cooking times based on the size of the potatoes:
    • Small: 30-35 minutes
    • Large: 45-50 minutes
  • Flavor variations:
    For extra flavor, you can season the skin with garlic powder, smoked paprika, or herbs before cooking.
  • Storage and reheating:
    Leftover baked potatoes can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 180°C (350°F) for 5-7 minutes for best results.
