Air Fryer Beer Battered Fish & Chips

Air Fryer Beer Battered Fish & Chips

Natalie July 18, 2023

Air fryer beer-battered fish and chips are a delicious and healthier alternative to traditional deep-fried fish and chips. Here’s a recipe to help you make this tasty dish:

Ingredients:

For the fish:

  • 1 pound white fish fillets (such as cod or haddock)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beer (lager or ale)
  • Cooking spray

For the chips:

  • 4 large potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the fish batter. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, paprika, and black pepper. Slowly pour in the beer while whisking until you have a smooth batter.
  3. Cut the fish fillets into manageable pieces, about the size of fish sticks.
  4. Dip each fish piece into the batter, making sure it’s coated on all sides. Allow any excess batter to drip off.
  5. Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Place the battered fish in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to fry them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  6. Spray a little more cooking spray on top of the fish to promote browning.
  7. Cook the fish in the preheated air fryer for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fish is crispy and golden brown. The exact cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fish.
  8. While the fish is cooking, prepare the chips (French fries). Peel the potatoes and cut them into uniform-sized sticks or wedges.
  9. In a mixing bowl, toss the potato sticks with olive oil, salt, and black pepper, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  10. Place the potato sticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to cook them in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer.
  11. Cook the chips at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping them halfway through, until they are crispy and golden brown.
  12. Once the fish and chips are cooked, serve them together with tartar sauce, malt vinegar, lemon wedges, or any other desired condiments.

Enjoy your air fryer beer-battered fish and chips!
