Air fryer carne asada is a delicious and convenient way to prepare this flavorful Mexican dish. While traditional carne asada is typically cooked on a grill, the air fryer can produce similar results with less effort. Here’s a simple recipe for air fryer carne asada:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound flank steak or skirt steak
- Juice of 2 limes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional toppings: chopped cilantro, diced onions, lime wedges
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine the lime juice, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a marinade.
- Place the flank steak or skirt steak in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Make sure both sides of the steak are coated evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Once the air fryer is preheated, remove the steak from the marinade and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Place the steak in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to cut the steak into smaller pieces if it doesn’t fit in the basket.
- Cook the steak in the air fryer for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, for medium-rare to medium doneness. Adjust the cooking time according to your desired level of doneness and the thickness of the steak.
- Once cooked, remove the steak from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
- Serve the air fryer carne asada with your favorite toppings, such as chopped cilantro, diced onions, and lime wedges. It goes well with tortillas, rice, beans, or in tacos, burritos, or salads.
Enjoy your air fryer carne asada!
