Air Fryer Egg Toast

Air Fryer Egg Toast

Natalie November 8, 2023
Air Fryer Egg Toast, also called Egg in a Hole or Egg in a Basket, is ready in under 10 minutes and 2 ingredients (plus a little seasoning). A super simple breakfast and absolutely delicious!

Egg in a Hole is a nostalgic breakfast for me. My mom made it all the time growing up and it is a favorite of mine.

This of the favorite, Air Fryer Egg Toast, is even better than when it is made on stovetop. The toast is perfectly crispy, the egg whites fully cooked, and the yolk nice and runny.

I love to make this for my kids because it involved very little effort, and very little clean-up. Making egg toast in the air fryer is a game changer for breakfast time.

This recipe is also great because you can adjust the cooking time on the air fryer to get the yolks to your preference. I love mine runny and 8 minutes works perfectly for that result.

Today wraps-up Brunch Week! I have been sharing breakfast and brunch recipes this week with a few friends. Scroll down to checkout all the offerings!

Ingredeints

  • Eggs – I unrecommend large eggs for Air Fryer Egg Toast.
  • Bread – I like to use a bread that cuts larger pieces, like Brownberry or Dave’s Killer Bread
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Cheese– this is optional. If you want to make this a cheesy egg toast, sprinkle some cheese on top during the last minute of cooking.

Instructions

  1. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place bread in the air fryer basket.
  2. Using a glass make an indent in the center of the bread. Use your fingers the press down the center of the indent.
  3. Crack the egg into the center of the indent. It is ok if a little egg white goes beyond the indent. Sprinkle salt and pepper on top.
  4. Place basket into the air fryer. Cook 340°F for 8 minutes. If you want to add a small sprinkle of cheese add it during the last minute of cooking.
  5. Remove toast with a spatula and serve.

Egg Cooking Times

I like my egg yolk runny and the whites set. However, Air Fryer Egg Toast is great because it can be adjusted to your preferences.

For a runny yolk and slightly runny whites, use 7 minutes to cook the toast.

To have a firmer yolk and set whites, cook for 9 minutes.

For a well cooked yolk and firm egg whites, cook for 10 minutes.

Note, the toast will be darker if you cook past 8 minutes. You will want to adjust the cooking temperature to 330°F if cooking for a firmer yolk
