AIR FRYER JELLY DONUTS

AIR FRYER JELLY DONUTS

Natalie February 17, 2024

Air Fryer Jelly Donuts — Jelly donuts are a favorite treat at fairs and bakeries, but they aren’t always the healthiest choice. However, with an air fryer, you can enjoy this delicious dessert without all the guilt! Not only is it a healthy air fryer recipe, but it’s also much easier to make than yeast-based jelly donuts. This recipe takes less than half an hour and yields six jumbo-sized donuts. Say goodbye to sugary fried dough and hello to fresh jelly-filled goodness!

In the mood for doughnuts but don’t want to fry them? I have a fool-proof recipe that will make your mouth water! These Air Fryer Jelly Donuts are a delicious treat and so easy to make. They take only about 15 minutes from start to finish, including baking time. If you have an air fryer, this is a must-try!

Air Fryer Jelly Donuts
Jelly donuts are a classic dessert that never goes out of style. This recipe is for an accessible version of a homemade filled donut, in which you can either use strawberry or raspberry jelly and a light cinnamon sugar coating on top.

CAN I USE FLAKY LAYER BISCUITS IN THIS RECIPE?
While you can, if that is all that you can find, I would strongly recommend using a regular biscuit. As you fill the donuts with the jam, they will come apart. So, for this recipe, reach for the regular biscuits.

WHAT KIND OF JELLY IS USED IN JELLY DONUTS?
You can use any of your favorite jam or preserves for this recipe. For today’s recipe, I used strawberry jam, which is my son’s favorite.

My other son’s favorite jelly donut is because he absolutely loves a Dunkin Donuts Jelly Donut, using raspberry preserves. But use whatever your favorite is and whatever you have on hand!

DO I REALLY NEED A INJECTOR TO FILL THESE?
No, but truthfully if you are going to make these repeatedly, it’s best to have the best tools on hand for the job.

I have used a Ziploc bag filled with strawberry jam and then cut the tip-off. You can easily fill it that way!

HOW TO TURN THESE INTO AN AIR FRYER SUFGANIYOT
If you are unfamiliar with Sufganiyot, it is a Jewish jelly donut, typically served at Hanukkah.

If you want to change a few ingredients by reducing the sugar amount and then adding powdered sugar as a coating, that will work.

About Time

  • Prep Time 5 mins
  • Cook Time 7 mins
  • Filling 5 mins
  • Total Time 17  mins

Ingredients

  • 1 can of buttermilk biscuits found in the dairy department
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoon butter, melted, unsalted
  • 6 tablespoons strawberry or raspberry jam, seedless

Instructions

  1. Layout the buttermilk biscuits.

  2. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray so they don’t stick.

  3. Place the biscuits into the air fryer basket.

  4. Air Fry for 5 to 7 minutes at 350 degrees F, air fryer setting.

  5. While the donuts are air frying, mix in a small bowl the sugar, and cinnamon.

  6. In another small bowl, place the butter and microwave until it’s melted.

  7. Fill your injector up with strawberry jelly. I mixed mine in a small bowl until it was loosened, as it was easier to fill the injector.

  8. As the donuts come out of the air fryer, roll them in the butter, then the cinnamon-sugar mixture

  9. Use the injector to fill with jelly.

  10. Plate, serve, and enjoy!
