Air fryer onions are a quick and easy way to get tender, yet crispy-edged onions perfect for topping a burger or adding to an omelet.
Onions in the Air Fryer
The air fryer is perfect for frying up a batch of onions to top steaks and burgers. The onions get a nice charred edge, are just soft enough, and full of great flavor. Here are a few tips for making air fryer onions:
First, slice the onion into even-sized pieces. I always cut my onion in half length-wise. Place the flat side down on my board and continue cutting into pieces about ¼ inch thick.
Second, toss the onion with oil and seasonings. Be sure to put them in a single layer when placing them in the fryer basket. Avoid large clumps as you want to allow for airflow around all of the pieces.
Third, when frying you are looking for an end result of onions that are charred and crispy on the edges yet soft and translucent in the middle.
