Air Fryer Shrimp is ready in 10 minutes! This juicy, tender shrimp recipe is perfect for appetizers, light dinners, and more.
Ingredients
1 lb fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tbsp avocado oil
1 large garlic clove, minced
1 tsp Cajun seasoning
½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
¼ tsp onion powder
Directions
Rinse shrimp and pat dry with paper towels. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) if your air fryer requires preheating.
In a large bowl, toss shrimp with avocado oil, garlic, Cajun seasoning, pepper, and onion powder.
Place shrimp in air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook the shrimp at 400°F (200°C) for 4 minutes.
Flip the shrimp and continue to cook for 2 more minutes, until pink and curled when cooked.
If the shrimp are not quite cooked through, cook for 1 to 2 minutes more, until done. Do not overcook the shrimp or it will become dry and rubbery.
Notes
Storage: Transfer the cooled shrimp to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat: Reheat your leftover shrimp in the air fryer for about 2 minutes at 400°F (200°C)! Be careful not to reheat them for too long or they will dry out and become rubbery.
Freezing: You can also freeze leftover shrimp in an airtight container for up to 3 months. To reheat, simply place frozen shrimp in the air fryer at 400°F for about 3 minutes.
Adjust cooking time: Depending on the size of your shrimp, you may need to adjust the cooking time. We used large shrimp and they cooked in 6 minutes. Smaller shrimp should be checked after 5 minutes, and jumbo shrimp will likely need 7 to 8 minutes.
Don’t overcrowd: If the basket is too full, the shrimp won’t cook evenly. Arrange the shrimp in a single layer, making sure they don’t touch or overlap.
Spicy: Add more heat with a tablespoon of your favorite hot sauce, like sriracha. You can also add red pepper flakes or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
Marinate: If you have time, marinate the shrimp up to 2 days in advance in the oil and seasonings. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to cook.
