Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken Breasts:
Ingredients:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening the sauce)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Chopped green onions (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- In a small bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger. If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can mix in cornstarch as well.
- Place the chicken breasts in a shallow dish or ziplock bag and pour the teriyaki sauce mixture over them. Make sure the chicken is well coated with the marinade. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate it overnight for more flavor.
- Once marinated, remove the chicken from the marinade and place it in the air fryer basket. Reserve the remaining marinade for later use.
- Cook the chicken in the air fryer for about 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the chicken is cooked through. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts, so adjust accordingly.
- While the chicken is cooking, transfer the reserved marinade to a small saucepan. Heat it over medium heat and bring it to a simmer. If you added cornstarch to thicken the sauce, make sure to whisk it well to avoid any lumps. Cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the air fryer and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Then, slice it into desired portions.
- Drizzle the teriyaki sauce over the chicken or serve it on the side as a dipping sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish.
- Serve the air fryer teriyaki chicken breasts hot with steamed rice and your favorite vegetables.
Notes:
- You can adjust the amount of teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger to suit your taste preferences.
- If you like a spicier flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the marinade.
- It’s essential to preheat the air fryer before cooking to ensure even and crispy results.
- Remember to flip the chicken halfway through the cooking process to ensure it cooks evenly on both sides.
- If you want a thicker sauce, you can mix cornstarch with a little water and add it to the reserved marinade before simmering.
- You can use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts if you prefer. Adjust the cooking time accordingly.
- Feel free to customize the dish by adding your favorite vegetables, such as broccoli or bell peppers, to the air fryer basket along with the chicken.
- Leftover chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat it in the air fryer or microwave before serving.
- Enjoy the flavorful and tender air fryer teriyaki chicken breasts as a delicious and easy meal option!
