Air Fryer Vanilla Cake

Air Fryer Vanilla Cake: the quick, light vanilla cake recipe made in the air fryer

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  2. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  3. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  4. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  5. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  6. 1/2 cup buttermilk
  7. 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  8. 1 large egg
  9. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Grease a small round cake pan or a suitable air fryer baking dish that fits inside your air fryer basket.
  6. Pour the cake batter into the greased pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Place the cake pan in the preheated air fryer basket.
  8. Cook the cake at 320°F (160°C) for about 20-25 minutes. Cooking times might vary depending on the specific model of your air fryer, so keep an eye on the cake. It’s done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the cake is lightly golden on top.
  9. Once the cake is done, carefully remove the cake pan from the air fryer and allow it to cool in the pan for a few minutes.
  10. After cooling slightly, gently run a knife around the edges of the cake to loosen it from the pan. Turn the pan upside down and tap it to release the cake onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Once the cake is completely cooled, you can dust it with powdered sugar, drizzle with a glaze, or frost it with your favorite frosting.
  12. Slice and enjoy your delicious air fryer vanilla cake!

Note: Air fryers can vary in size and cooking times, so it’s important to keep an eye on the cake as it cooks. Adjust the cooking time as needed to ensure the cake is cooked through but not overdone.

Of course, here’s a simple vanilla glaze you can drizzle over your air fryer vanilla cake:

Vanilla Glaze:

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup powdered sugar
  2. 1-2 tablespoons milk
  3. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine the powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of milk, and vanilla extract.
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until you have a smooth and pourable glaze. If the glaze is too thick, add more milk, a little at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
  3. Once your cake has cooled completely, place a piece of parchment paper or a tray under the wire rack to catch any drips.
  4. Drizzle the vanilla glaze over the cake, letting it flow down the sides.
  5. Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before slicing and serving your air fryer vanilla cake.

Optional: You can customize the glaze by adding a pinch of salt for a salted vanilla glaze, or you can tint it with a drop of food coloring for a fun twist.

Feel free to get creative with your toppings. You can add sprinkles, chopped nuts, fresh berries, or even a dollop of whipped cream to enhance the flavor and presentation of your air fryer vanilla cake. Enjoy your delicious homemade treat!
