Ingredients:
- 1 Cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup milk
- A pinch of salt, to taste
- ½ teaspoon seasoning of choice. I used a blend of thyme, oregano, and garlic.
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped scallions (optional)
- 2 tablespoons crumbled bacon (optional)
Instructions:
- Begin by preheating your air fryer to 375 degrees F (190 C) or oven to 400 degrees F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, a pinch of salt, and ½ teaspoon of seasoning of your choice. I used a mixture of thyme, oregano, and garlic.
- Add 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese to the flour mixture, and then pour in ½ cup of milk. Gradually add the milk in small amounts, making sure that the dough isn’t too wet. Stir everything together until a soft dough forms. Avoid over-mixing the dough as this can make the scones tough.
- On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough gently for 10-15 seconds. Then, using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut the dough into round shapes. Alternatively, you can shape the dough into a round patty that’s about ¾ inch thick.
- For air frying, place the scones directly on the air fryer basket or tray, making sure they are not touching each other. Spray each scone with oil spray, and air fry for 3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown. The air fryer gives the scones a crispy exterior, while the cheese inside remains gooey and melty.
- For baking, place the rounds on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve these warm scones with a spread of butter and your favorite jam or other toppings. Enjoy!
