Learn how to make an air fryer baked potato in just 3 steps with only 2 ingredients! This recipe is made with extra-large baked potatoes that are intended to be served as a main dish rather than a side dish.

Air Fryer Baked Potato Ingredients

  • Large Russet Potatoes
  • Olive Oil

How to Air Fry Baked Potatoes

Rinse and clean any dirt/debris from the russet potatoes.

Using a fork, poke 10-12 times around each potato on all sides. This prevents them from swelling by allowing the steam to escape from underneath the potato skin. Otherwise, they can explode as they cook.

Rub or spray a small amount of oil on the outside of each potato. I prefer olive oil because it has less saturated fat than others. Canola oil is another one I like to cook with if you have that on hand.

Add the russet potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket. For even cooking, do not layer them on top of each other.

Cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 40-45 minutes. Cooking times may vary depending on the size of your potatoes.

To check for doneness, pierce with a fork or slice with a knife to see that the inside is tender.

Top off your potato with your favorite toppings – bacon, cheddar cheese, sour cream, butter, salt, pepper, chili, nacho cheese, or eat it absolutely plain!

Baked Potato Toppings

  • Bacon Bits
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Chives
  • Chili
  • Butter
  • Sour Cream
  • Nacho Cheese
  • Ranch
  • BBQ Pulled Pork
  • Broccoli and Cheese
  • Make it a Mexican-inspired dish with salsa, black beans, and taco meat
