Air Fryer Egg Toast

Air Fryer Egg Toast

Natalie September 21, 2023

Air fryer egg toast is a quick and easy breakfast or snack option that’s crispy on the outside and deliciously creamy on the inside. Here’s a simple recipe along with some notes to help you make the perfect air fryer egg toast:

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • Butter or cooking spray (for greasing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, cooked bacon or ham, diced tomatoes, chopped herbs, or sliced avocado

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 2-3 minutes. If your air fryer has a preheat function, use it.
  2. Prepare the bread: Lightly butter or spray one side of each bread slice. You can also use cooking spray instead of butter for a healthier option.
  3. Cut a hole: Using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass, cut a hole in the center of each bread slice. This will be where you cook the egg.
  4. Place in the air fryer: Place the bread slices in the air fryer basket, buttered side down.
  5. Add the eggs: Crack an egg into the center hole of each bread slice. Be careful not to break the yolk. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  6. Add toppings (optional): If you’re using any toppings like cheese, bacon, tomatoes, or herbs, sprinkle them over the eggs.
  7. Cook: Carefully place the air fryer basket back into the air fryer. Cook at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-7 minutes, or until the egg whites are set, and the yolks are still slightly runny. Adjust the time if you prefer your eggs more or less done.
  8. Serve: Carefully remove the air fryer egg toast from the basket using a spatula. Serve immediately, and enjoy your crispy, creamy egg toast!

Notes:

  1. Bread choice: You can use any type of bread you prefer, such as white, whole wheat, or sourdough. Thicker slices work better for this recipe.
  2. Egg size: Large eggs are typically used for this recipe, but you can adjust the cooking time if using smaller or larger eggs.
  3. Toppings: Get creative with your toppings. Try different combinations to suit your taste. Avocado, smoked salmon, and hollandaise sauce can be used for a luxurious variation.
  4. Preheating: Preheating your air fryer ensures even cooking and a crispy texture. If your air fryer doesn’t have a preheat function, simply run it for a few minutes at the cooking temperature before adding your food.
  5. Timing: Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the brand and model of your air fryer. Keep an eye on the egg toast to avoid overcooking.
  6. Safety: Be cautious when removing the hot egg toast from the air fryer. Use oven mitts or a kitchen towel to handle the basket.

Air fryer egg toast is a versatile recipe that you can customize to your liking. Experiment with different seasonings and toppings to create your favorite version of this delicious breakfast treat.
