Ingredients
- 5 lbs spare ribs
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 1/2 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup honey BBQ sauce, or your favorite barbecue sauce, divided
- ¼ cup chicken broth for dabbing or spritzing
Instructions
-
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar with all of the spices. Mix them thoroughly.
- Trim excess fat and silver skin from the rack of ribs and cut them into smaller pieces, enough to fit into your air fryer.
- Rub the ribs generously with your homemade BBQ seasoning on the meat side as well as the rib side.
- Marinate the ribs for 1-2 hours in the fridge (optional, but it will add more flavor).
- Preheat the air fryer to 370 degrees F.
- Remove the ribs from the fridge and arrange the ribs in a single layer in the air fryer tray.
- Cook them at 370°F for a cooking time of 12-15 minutes.
- Mist the ribs with broth or apple juice. Flip and rotate the ribs to even out the cooking.
- Cook for another 12-15 additional minutes until the internal temperature of the ribs reaches 145°F. Mist them again halfway through.
- Brush the front, back, and sides of the ribs with the additional BBQ sauce and cook them for an additional 3-5 minutes to caramelize the glaze.
- Let the air fryer BBQ ribs rest for about 10 minutes before slicing between bones.
- Serve a delicious rib dinner with extra BBQ sauce and favorite sides.
