Air Fryer Whole Chicken

Air fryers are a great tool for cooking a whole chicken, as they can help you achieve crispy skin while keeping the meat tender and juicy. Here’s a simple recipe for air fryer whole chicken:

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken (about 4-5 pounds)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs of your choice (such as thyme, rosemary, or oregano)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for a few minutes.
  2. While the air fryer is preheating, prepare the chicken. Remove any giblets or neck from the cavity and pat the chicken dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the olive oil or melted butter all over the chicken, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and dried herbs. Sprinkle the spice mixture all over the chicken, making sure to cover all areas, including the cavity.
  5. Place the seasoned chicken in the air fryer basket, breast-side down. If your air fryer has a rotisserie function, you can use it for even cooking. Otherwise, simply place the chicken in the basket without the rotisserie attachment.
  6. Cook the chicken at 375°F (190°C) for about 30 minutes. Then, carefully flip the chicken, breast-side up, and continue cooking for another 25-30 minutes or until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the air fryer and let it rest for a few minutes before carving.
  8. Carve the chicken and serve it with your favorite side dishes.

Note: Cooking times may vary depending on the size of the chicken and the specific model of your air fryer. It’s always recommended to use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches the proper internal temperature for safe consumption.
